JKHCS DENY SELLING PLOTS ON UNAUTHORIZED LAND

Jammu, September 6 : Refuting media report that J&K Housing cooperative Society has committed any fraud by collecting money from people for selling plots at Panchvati Phase-I and Phase –II near Mishriwalla on a piece of unauthorized land, Chairman of the society Surjit Singh Manhas on Wednesday said few vested interests at the behest of land mafia in Jammu were trying their level best to create controversy out of nothing to defame the society.
He also claimed that society had purchased 116 kanals of land in 1996-1997 and a total number of 736 plots were carved out of the same to be distributed among customers.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Chairman of the JK Housing cooperative society appealed to the general masses not to panic giving them an assurance that no one in the housing cooperative society was working against the interests of the general people.
He said, people should realize that housing cooperative society is not private undertaking.We cannot cheat people. The cooperative housing society had a proven track record of developing colonies and providing basic amenities to the masses and in this case also no irregularity had been committed inviting scrutiny from other agencies,he added responding to report claiming fraud was committed.
He said people have reposed faith in the housing cooperative society by not withdrawing their application and claiming money back.
BS Manhas former chairman of the Housing cooperative society and senior advocate and legal advisor of the society DS Chauhan were also present on the occasion.
Responding to the content of the complaint registered by the police against Chairman and MD of the JK Housing Cooperative society, Surjit Singh Manhas said their offer had adversly affetced business interests of few vested interests
and land mafia as they decided to sell the 10 Maralas of plot at nominal rates of Rs 1.20 lakh inMishriwalla.The market rates are much higher and our offer had triggered price war forcing property dealers to reduce their rates.
He said, apart from this, developing basic infrastructure in the area was their resposibility and the work was going on till last evening when the work was stopped.
