| Jammu rafting team participated in 1st International Kashmir Cup | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 25 For the first time a young team of Rafters from Jammu represented Jammu region in the first Kashmir International Cup held in Sonamarg, Kashmir on river Sindh. The team of young rafters was led by armature river guide Sanjay Sambyal. The team stood at thirteenth position. Seven young rafters recently trained by nationally renowned rafter Rigu Raj Jamwal comprised the team. They were Dr Naveen Kotwal, Mudasir Kichloo, Advocate Firdous Tak, Naveed Khursheed, Deep Singh and Deepak. The team was sponsored by Jammu Tourism department. The championship was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department in collaboration with the Indian Rafting Foundation and Whitewater Rafting Association. 16 teams, including three foreign teams participated in the championship. Four events (Sprint, Head to Head, Marathon and Slalom) were held in the four-day long championship which started on July 16. |
