| LT GEN DAVINDER KUMAR pay farewell visit | | | Udhampur, 06 Sep: Lt Gen Davinder Kumar, PVSM, VSM bar, ADC, Signal Officer-in-Chief and Sr Col Comdt of Corps of Signals accompanied by wife, Vandana Kumar visited Northern Command on 05 and 06 Sept 06. During his visit he interacted with all Signal Officers and families and shared the achievements of the Corps as such during his tenure as Signal Officers-in-Chief. This is being considered as a part of his farewell visit to the Corps in Northern Command. He expressed his deep sense of gratitude and thanks to each and every member of Corps of Signals for his significant contribution towards the standing of the Corps today during the Special Sainik Sammelan held here today. Besides he also applauded the contribution of Northern Command Signalers in the counter terrorism operations. During the tenure of the General Officer, the Corps of Signals have taken rapid strides in establishing the world class information communication technologies (ICT) infrastructure and also acquired the capabilities to negate the same. Among the same, two major projects, Mercury flash, a strategic broad band satellite network and Mercury streak, a mammoth project involving laying of optical fiber cable have been commissioned. So also the Army wide area network (AWAN) has been dedicated as a strategic backbone network to the nation by his excellency, the President of India . During his tenure the Corps has also been very active in aid to civil authorities during recent earthquake in J & K and in providing fool proof communication during inaugural Srinagar-Muzarffarabad bus service and live coverage of the event showcased the versatility of the Corps.
