| Mysterious murder worked out, husband among two held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 25 Police claimed to have solved a mysterious murder case of lady within weeks of time in Kathua district of Jammu division. In a handout issued here today Police said that on 13-7-2008 body of a young Shillo Devi w/o Suresh Kumar r/o Village Tutuyi Malhar Thesil Billawar was hanging from a tree in the forest area near Katli under the jurisdiction of PS Malhar. The feet of the body were well touching the ground and the process of decomposition had started. The police started investigation U/S 174 Cr.PC, during course of investigation it came into light that the deceased lady was married to Suresh Kumar s/o Hans Raj r/o Tutuyi about seven months back and since last few months she had been opposing the decision of her husband who wished to settle in Attawa (U.P) to look-after the work of his father Upon this issue a strained relation had been developed between the couple. In the meanwhile , the post-mortem of the deceased confirmed that the death occurred due to head injury caused by some blunt object and not due to hanging Subsequently , the inquest proceedings changed into FIR No. 12 /2008 U/S 302 which stands registered in PS Malhar. The inquest turned into blind murder case , police swung into action and started the search for the duo but they were found missing from their houses which raised suspicion, after hectic efforts made by the police , they finally succeeded to trace out and arrested both accused brothers. They have been identified as husband of the victim Suresh Kumar and brother-in law Lal Chand sons of Hans Raj r/o Tutuyi Malhar, the accused were put to sustained interrogation and they broke down and confessed their crime. They stated that they brutally beating –up the victim lady with the result she sustained severe head injuries and succumbed instantly, the accused brothers in the dusk lifted the body and hanged it form a tree in the forest area of Katli with the intention to distort the evidence. The weapon of offence has also been seized from their house with blood and hair affixed; the people of the area have heaved a sigh of relief after the crime being conducted by the police.
