| After meeting Governor, ‘Minister’ looses job | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 25 Barely a day after a Congress leader flaunted the ‘exceptional status’ being only Minister in Jammu and Kashmir when there was no popular government in place, he has been shown the door. The Governor has taken over as Chairman of the Pahari Advisory Board while the Chief Secretary has been made the Vice Chairman. In good old days when the popular government was in place, the Chief Minister would act as the Chairman of the Board while his nominee would be the Vice Chairman. Of late, Shabir Ahmed Khan of the Congress was Vice Chairman. Congress leader Shabir Ahmed Khan, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Pahari Advisory Board had on Thursday called on the Governor along with 30 other members of his and other parties belonging to the Pahari speaking communities. In his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Pahari Advisory Board, Shabir Khan, a sophisticated Congress leader, carried the status of a Minister of State. Normally with fall or exit of any government, the chairpersons of all boards and corporations appointed by it also demit office. Shabir Khan, a Congress nominee, however, had continued as Vice Chairman of the Pahari Advisory Board. His meeting with the Governor in Jammu Thursday probably brought to the notice of the government that a symbol of political representation still exists even after ouster of the government. An official spokesman said today that the Governor Jammu and Kashmir will be the Chairman and the Chief Secretary Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People with immediate effect as per the Government order issued to this effect. |
