| Police, CRPF conduct surprise search in Srinagar | | | Early Times Reporter

In the wake of serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, security forces in the city on Sunday conducted surprise checks at various places including a 'Sunday Market'.
Police assisted by Central Reserve Police Force cordoned off 'Sunday Market' at Polo Ground in the heart of the city this afternoon and subjected the shoppers and roadside vendors to physical search, official sources said.
They thoroughly checked the handcarts and merchandise of the vendors in the over hour-long operation, the sources said adding all those present in the market, only open on Sundays, were lined up and subjected to frisking.
However, no one was arrested, the sources said. The sources said similar searches were carried out at various other busy areas of the uptown and interior city.
Reports from district headquarters also spoke of stepped up security arrangements, frisking and area domination patrols carried out by police and CRPF personnel, the sources said.
Authorities sounded a high alert in the state following the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace. |
