Jammu | July 27- The Jammu State Morcha (P) in a meeting held under the chairmanship of its President, Prof. Virender Gupta today discussed the current situation prevailing in Jammu region and accused the administration of letting loose a reign of terror on the peaceful protestors who are demanding revocation of government order canceling allotment of land allotment of land to SASB.
The meeting was attended by Dig Vijay Singh, Devinder Singh Jamwal, Chandra Uday Sharma, Balwainder Singh Jamwal, Virender Magotra, S. Shiv Rattan Singh, Jagdish Sharma and Ripudaman Sharma.
While extending the whole hearted support of Jammu State Morcha (P) to Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti which is spearheading the on going agitation, the meeting condemned the feeble attempts of cover-up by the Divisional Commissioner and IGP Jammu of their orders given to the police personnel to forcibly lift up the body of martyr Kuldeep Verma and cremate it under the cover of darkness. The Morcha also condemned the humiliating manner in which the martyr’s wife, child and other women folk were subjected to along with the gross disrespect shown to the martyr’s mortal remains by these police personnel under their direct orders. These actions have lowered the images of these two officers in the eyes of Jammu people and they should themselves resign on moral grounds rather than only expressing that this decision was a “judgmental error”. Did these two officers think that they belong to the British Raj and had to suppress Jammu’s voice against discrimination at all costs? The statement of IGP Jammu that there was an apprehension of large scale violence in case such an action was not taken is laughable as even the Governor has lauded the peaceful nature of Jammuties. In fact it is these officers who are responsible for the subsequent flaring of violence in the Jammu province, the meeting felt. The members also wanted the immediate suspension of SDPO M.L. Kaith along with the police personnel involved in this incident and asked for a Judicial Inquiry by a sitting High Court Judge only.
Reacting to the appeal of the Governor N. N. Vohra to Jammu people to come forward for talks as ‘there is no issue which cannot be resolved amicably through the process of dialogue’; all the members of the Morcha wanted the Governor to give an explanation as to why such an invitation was not extended to the people of Jammu before the orders for revoking the land transfer and also of shifting the Amarnath Yatra arrangements to the tourism department were taken unilaterally under the duress of the militant and separatist organizations along with their supporting political parties of Kashmir. They held Vohra responsible for this turmoil and burning of Jammu region and stated that he cannot be a part of the solution and he should resign and return back to Delhi as he is an agent of his political master Mufti Mohamed Sayeed who in turn is aligned to the separatists and militant organizations of Kashmir. They warned Vohra and all other communal and separatist organizations working under the garb of mainstream political parties of Kashmir not to take the Jammuites for granted as they have now woken up to the continuous suppression and discrimination against them by the Kashmiri leadership of these parties.
All members of JSM (P) also condemned the parochial and separatist statement of Omar Abdullah in the Parliament ‘of not allowing even an inch of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board for making the Yatra arrangements’. This statement has ripped the secular mask of the National Conference and shown its real face of a narrow minded Kashmiri separatist and communal party to the people of Jammu. It shows that the Jammuities have committed a grave mistake of welcoming such leaders in the past whereas these leaders and their ilk should be hounded out of Jammu as they are the ones responsible for the present turmoil. The Kahmiriyat that he is now talking about is only for the Muslim fundamentalist and separatists being mouthed by Pakistan and all the militant organizations.
The meeting also condemned police lathi charge and arrest of various leaders of political parties and Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti preventing them to hold Shardhanjali ceremony of the martyr Kuldeep Verma in a peaceful manner. The Morcha said that such actions of the administration have turned Jammu into a battlefield and will only further vitiate the atmosphere as it is not allowing the Jammuties to peacefully vent their feelings which is contrary to the present democratic setup. They asked for the immediate lifting of the curfew and release of all the arrested persons including those who were arrested earlier from various places in Jammu. |
