| Sports Council rebuts press reports | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | July 27 A spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, while reacting to a report appearing in a section of press, has clarified that the J&K State Rugby Association is neither recognized by Sports Council nor its activities are monitored by the Council. He said the Council has nothing to do with unrecognized associations. However, regarding injuries to one of the players of Rugby Association, explanation is being sought from the concerned association for their irresponsible behaviour towards the injured player, he added. Meanwhile, while responding to another news item captioned 'No Stadium, no coach' appearing in a section of local press has said that Sports Council has a panel of 67 coaches in the state in various fields and 42 stadia stand properly developed and are functional in Valley. He has further clarified that under Sports category, two per cent seats are reserved in professional colleges for diploma/graduate courses and one per cent seats in post graduate courses. The sports person having earned one of the three medals in international or national level competitions is eligible under this category, he maintained. |
