| Third force emerging stronger after trust vote: Karat | | | Thiruvananthapuram | July 27 Asserting that the 'Third Force', an alternative to the Congress and the BJP, is set to emerge stronger, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Sunday said that the new political realignment has belied the Congress hopes of isolating the Left on the national scene. "The Left had not only been able to line up several parties against the UPA Government on the nuclear issue, but could also attract more parties to its side after the confidence vote in the Lok Sabha", he said in an article in the party daily 'Deshabhimani' on Sunday. Apart from the BSP, the JD(S) and RLD have joined hands with the Left and the TDP-UNPA alliance to oppose the Congress-led UPA coalition, he said. The emergence of the new alliance has upset the Congress calculations that it could isolate the Left by winning the trust vote with the help of the Samajwadi Party and through defections from ranks of some other parties, he said. While carrying on with the fight against government's move to push forward the nuclear agreement and its failure to tackle inflation, the Left and their allies would continue struggle against BJP's "communal agenda", Karat said. |
