| Jammu shut continues today, curfew partially lifted | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 27
Extending the earlier deadline of Sunday, the winter Capital City will observer a shut down on Monday on the call of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti. Curfew is also likely to continue in the Old City areas even though it was lifted, after a four hour long relaxation, in all areas on South of the Tawi Bridge. To gauge the situation, the district administration had this evening relaxed curfew in areas including Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Bahu Fort, R.S Pura, Bishnah, Arnia, Gharota, Kana Chak, Akhnoor and Khour. However, as no untoward incident was reported from these areas, the curfew was finally lifted. In Old City areas curfew was not lifted and it likely to continue tomorrow as well. Administration is sensing more trouble on Monday in the Old City area. Despite relaxation in curfew, all establishments and educational institutions will remain shut tomorrow. The Jammu University has informed that the campus will remain closed on Monday. According to a notification issued by Secretary, Services Selection Board, the interviews for the post of Accounts Assistants scheduled for July 27 and 28, 2008 have been postponed. Besides, the interviews for the post of teachers of district cadre, Jammu and Kathua and for the post of drivers district cadre, Poonch scheduled for July 28, 2008 have also been postponed. The fresh dates for the interviews shall be notified later on. |
