Succumbing to public pressure, the government today attached Deputy Superintendent of Police Bakshi Nagar Mohan Lal Kaith who was allegedly accused of showing disrespect to the body of a youth on July 23.
Well informed sources in police department said that Director General of Police (DGP) today attached ML Kaith to District Police Lines (DPL) and posted DySP Dushyant Sharma as new SDPO Bakshi Nagar Jammu with immediate effect.
It may be mentioned here that people of all walks of life in Jammu were demanding dismissal of Kaith who allegedly showed disrespect to the body of Kuldeep Kumar Verma who had committed suicide over land transfer row in Jammu.
"There was strong resentment among the Hindu community after the police allegedly tried to cremate the body of the youth Kuldeep Kumar Verma on the intervening night of July 23 and 24, which is said to be against Hindu religion," sources informed.
However, when contacted, Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu Alok Kumar said that he has no information about the attachment. |
