| Grant trade union rights to laborers: Tarigami to Railway authorities | | | Early Times Reporter Ramban | July 28
CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami while highlighting the demands of workers urged the railway authorities to grant trade union rights to them. Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami was addressing a massive public rally at Sangaldan Ramban, here today. He demanded enhancement of wages of railway workers, recruitment of local youth on the project, adequate compensation to those who had provided land for the railway track and those whose land is being used by the railway authorities for dumping waste material. Tarigami urged upon the railway authorities to grant trade union rights to the workers. Referring to the realignment of the railway line, he said that it would adversely affect the dozens of surrounding villages. Commenting on the present situation in Jammu region, Tarigami castigated the State Administration for its utter failure in handling the situation. He said that the administration mishandled the situation and remained insensitive to the genuine concerns of the people. Tarigami cautioned the administration not to use force indiscriminately; instead open up all channels of communication and dialogue with all sections of people. He appealed The Governor to convene an all party meeting so that genuine grievances of the people are redressed. |
