Young Panthers, youth wing of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party today held a strong protest demonstration here under the leadership of its president and former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia and burnt the effigy of Union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil for his failure to take cognizance of the ongoing agitation in Jammu for return of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board land and recall of Governor NN Vohra.
Young Panthers president Balwant Singh Mankotia addressing a massive gathering, before burning the effigy of Mr. Patil, said that people of Jammu region have been agitating for the past more than a month for restoration of SASB land and recall of Governor Vohra but Central Government has not taken any action on its demands. Instead its nominee who has acted as a tout of separatist politicians and has unleashed worst kind of terror on the persons who are protesting peacefully.
Besides Mr. Vohra has indulged into worst kind of brutal actions which led to desecration of dead body of martyr Kuldeep Kumar Dogra, attempts to cremate the body with liquor, kerosene and severe beating of the wife of the martyr, Ms. Shilpi and her relatives besides a number of other people, Mankotia said adding, that despite all the tyrant actions of the Governor Vohra central government has kept mum on the prevailing situation and has given free hand to Mr. Vohra.
He said that people of Jammu have kept mum for last more than 65 years despite several discriminatory action by the successive state and central governments for the sake of national interest but the Government's failure to stand against the unjust demand of separatists including Hurriet leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani, for return of land allotted to SASB has led to unleashing of worst kind of anger among the common masses.
Mankotia warned that criminal 'silence' of the Central government over the dictatorial attitude of Governor Vohra and no sympathy towards the just and genuine demands of nationalist people is adding fuel to the fire and could lead to any situation.
He appealed the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party supremo Prof. Bhim Singh to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and apprise him about the prevailing situation in Jammu region and demand return of land to SASB and recall of Governor NN Vohra for mishandling the situation in Jammu. |
