| Vohra must take charge of situation: Chadha | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 29
Senior PDP leader R K Chadha, has held state Governor, N N Vohra squarely responsible for the present unrest and volatile situation prevailing in Jammu. The Governor's inept handling of the issue of land allotment to SASB row, has led to the present impasse and deep discontent in the Jammu region. In fact he should have called a meeting of the leaders of both the regions and all the communities in the state before taking the decision to revoke the land allotment ordered to SASB, Chadha has contended. In a press statement issued here today, Chadha has asked the Governor now to take immediate initiative to resolve the deadlock and assuage the hurt psyche of Jammu people. Remaining sitting in the ivory tower of Raj Bhawn in Srinagar and treating the issue leisurely, so characteristic of bureaucrats and adopting repressive measures by the Governor's administration will only complicate the matter and provide fuel to the fire of ongoing unrest in Jammu region, Chadha said adding that the Governor cannot absolve himself of the responsibility of total inept and insensitive handling of the issue of cremating the body of Kuldeep Raj Dogra at midnight at Bishnah by the police. Vohra should own moral responsibility for this act of sacrilege and grave human rights violation committed by his administration, Chadha has said. Instead of issuing orders to some senior bureaucrats to be stationed in Jammu to monitor the handling of present situation of unrest and turmoil in Jammu, the Governor himself should be stationed at Jammu till the situation is normalized here. He should extend formal invitation to the leaders of the agitating groups for dialogue over their specific demands as well as to discuss other matters agitating the minds of Jammu people, Chadha has said. If the Governor can extend invitation to the anti India and secessionist leaders of Hurriyat Conference, for talks, there is no reason that he should not extend such invitation to the agitating leaders of Jammu region, who are out and out Indian nationalists and are dedicated to holding the banner of Indian nationalism afloat in J&K, Chadha has added. |
