Harsh asks Govt to adopt realistic approach to redress grievances

Former Minister and chief spokesman of the JKNPP Harsh Dev Singh has strongly condemned the police atrocities against the peaceful demonstrators including old aged persons, children and women folk with policemen further trespassing into private houses in violation of the law of the land and human rights.
He said that the government had simply added fuel to fire by restoring to unprovoked lathi charge, on peacefully rally of civilians during the last couple of days.
Charging the government with mishandling the situation, Harsh Dev said that the government was committing one blunder after the other and was imposition of curfew, mishandling and disrespect to mortal remains of Kuldeep Kumar Dogra, arrest of peaceful demonstrators stopping of rally to pay tributes of Late. Kuldeep Kumar Dogra and inaction of the government to deal appropriately with the erring officers had further compounded the situation.
He urged upon the government to learn from its mistakes and take immediate steps to retrieve the confidence of the people including immediate release of all those arrested and, stop use of force against peaceful demonstrators. He said that the people of Jammu had felt deeply hurt and let down due to somersault made by the erstwhile Ghulam Nabi Azad government on the land allotment order. He said that discrimination with Jammu in all other fields including development, employment, delimitation, power supply and other basic amenities of life were the other aggravating factors that were responsible for the present outburst of people.
Singh urged upon the administration to address all issues including to review of revocation of land allotment order which had been passed by a minuscule minority government of Ghulam Nabi Azad and lacked the authority and competence to take any such decision.
He further expressed concern over the prolonged power cuts adding to the woes and miseries of the people. He said that though all the shops, commercial establishment, banks and industrial establishments are closed and about 140 mgw extra power is available, still the power curtailments is remain unaffected. He enquired as to where was the said power beinbg supplied and why was Jammu being ignored and the public subjected to the vagaries of heat and humidity, Harsh expressed his apprehensions over the assurances of the administration to redeem the power scenario by August 15. He said that it was high time that the state and centre shun their parochial attitude towards Jammuites and adopted a realistic and sincere approach for redressing the genuine grievances of the Jammu.
