Jammu University Teachers' Association (JUTA) has thanked the Chancellor and the Governor of the state N. N. Vohra for accepting the long pending demand of providing LTC facility to the Jammu University fraternity .The association is also equally thankful to the Vice-chancellor Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, who has been instrumental in facilitating the LTC to the university. The decision to provide LTC was taken up in the recent Finance Committee meeting held in Srinagar. The JUTA has also expressed its satisfaction and pleasure in providing the developmental funds for various upcoming off campuses and the satellite centres of the University of Jammu. In a handout issued here today the JUTA has also appealed to the Chancellor who also happens to be the Governor of the state to grant the Central University status to the University of Jammu. It needs to be mentioned that University of Jammu is one of the best functional higher educational institute of not only of the state but also at the national level. Many of the teachers, scholars and the students have brought laurels to the university by their academic contributions. It is one of the first ever complete public ISO certified institution of the higher learning. Keeping in view, the aspirations of the university community and respecting the wishes of this region, this University of Jammu is definitely a fit case to be declared as the central university. So, in meeting this long pending demand of this university, it will assuage the hurt feelings of the Jammuties. JUTA has also expressed it concern on the dismal power situation in the Jammu region which has not only badly hit the economic life but very importantly the academics. It is time of the university examinations and students are very disturbed on this erratic power supply. |
