| PKM offers to march with Samiti | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 30
Announcing suspension of all its organizational activities with immediate effect, the Panun Kashmir Movement (PKM) has extended its full support to the ongoing agitation in Jammu province. 'Describing this as a historical moment to shape the destiny of future', the PKM said that the agitation launched by Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti has caught the imagination of the people and is representative of the national outlook of the patriotic people of the state. Addressing media persons at the conclusion of an emergency meeting of its office bearers here today which was also attended by the office bearers of Kashmiri Sikh Displaced Forum (KSDF), Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President of PKM, who recently returned from a month-long tour of US and Europe in connection with 'Kashmir Sankalp Yatra', said "The Panun Kashmir Movement (PKM) suspends all its organizational activities with immediate effect and extends full support to the on going agitation in Jammu province. This is a historical moment to shape the destiny of future. The agitation launched by Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti has caught the imagination of the people and is representative of the national outlook of the patriotic people of the State. This has become a people's movement for which more and more sacrifices are in waiting, he added. He said the PKM and KSDF condemn the callous attitude of the government and hold it responsible for the present crisis. The recent outburst of some Kashmir based politicians regarding the issues involved is an indictment of the institutional position and is reflective of their communal and separatist outlook, he said. Maintaining that the Amarnath Shrine is the national heritage of India and Hindus all round the globe have a great and unimpeachable faith in this ancient shrine, he said the Hindus of Jammu and Kashmir have equal right on the territory of the state and have thus a constitutional and legal right to make arrangement at the site of the land under question in Kashmir. 'We pledge our support to the movement and ask our cadres to continue taking active part in the agitational programmes at local levels. This struggle has a definite aim and in this connection, there is no alternative to the demands made by the Sangrash Samiti. The government has to rescind the orders and restore the land to the Shrine Board. Chrungoo said. He said N. N. Vohra should also be sacked as the Governor of the State since he has taken the decisions keeping in view the communal and separatist agenda of the Kashmir based politicians. He has not been able to understand the sentiments of the nationalist forces of the state and instead has subjugated to the whims of his earlier political masters, he alleged. The PKM leader said that these politicians have always contributed to the process of Islamisation of Kashmir and include leaders of PDP and National Conference besides the separatist coterie. The Kashmiri Pandit community shall continue to highlight the reasons, which have led to this situation over the last 60 years. This is a major failure of the policies adopted by the successive regimes of the country in context of Jammu and Kashmir State. There is a paramount need to reconsider the overall approach towards the issues involved by the government of India, he asserted. Appealing the nationalist forces in Jammu and Kashmir State to remain united and focused at this hour of test and turmoil, the PKM also urged the people to defy curfew and Section 144 wherever and whenever in vogue. The people are also appealed to adopt measures of civil disobedience and stop paying taxes to the government till the decisions taken in context of Amarnath shrine are reversed'' the PKM leaders said. Upinder Kaul, general secretary and Sardar Harmohinder Singh general secretary KSDF were also present at the press conference. |
