| Why all scared of Shilpi? | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 30
When cameras follow and headlines await the visit, the politicians are ready to reach anywhere with their bundle full of sympathies and condolences, but wife of the martyr who offered supreme sacrifice and gave a new direction to the present agitation is still leading a life of seclusion. Shilpi, 34, wife of Kuldeep Kumar Varma, and her two sons are away from the glare of present scenario and leading a life of isolation in Bishnah. Kuldeep left behind his hapless family of three after offering his life for the restoration of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine. The sacrifice of Shilpi, in any case, is not less than that of Kuldeep. He passed away after giving a new direction to the agitation and she is a living symbol of sacrifice who lost her husband for the cause. There is all politics on the name of Kuldeep but no one, among the visibly significant leaders, has spared time to call on Shilpi. Reports reaching here from Bishnah said that Shilpi has fallen seriously ill after the death of her husband and is in isolation at her place. Her son and daughter are also reportedly unwell and there is no one to look after the ailing family. Shilpi is also reported to be under deep trauma not only for the death of her husband but also due to the humiliation and harassment she later had to suffer at the hands Policemen who beat her up on the night of forcible cremation of Kuldeep Kumar. It has been noted that whenever any one passes away in extraordinary circumstances the leaders make a beeline with their sympathies and whatever relief they are able to offer. In Shilpi’s case almost all leaders have been shying away as no one is coming forward to offer some support to the bereaved family. Prof Bhim Singh of the Panthers Party is perhaps the only exception who called on Shilpi’s family and offered her relief. Though earlier today three Members of Parliament of the BJP visited Bishnah and called on family of Kuldeep Kumar but they were on a fact finding mission to ascertain what all had happened. The visiting BJP MPs have to submit a report to their party high command. |
