Smitten with the bomb scare of Bangalore and Ahmedabad, the Police and other security forces have upped the vigil as intelligence agencies have put Jammu on high terror alert. While as reports of some militants having entered the city are taking rounds, the Police is repeatedly issuing appeals asking people to remain vigilante. People have been asked to be careful about the suspicious activities in their areas and not to touch any unclaimed object. Intensified searches are being conducted on the outskirts of Jammu city as the Police suspect presence of some militants in the winter capital city. Some houses have also been raided in Sunjwan area but nothing concrete has turned out yet. Meanwhile, panic gripped residents of Udhampur district here after a gas cylinder and container was found near northern command formation area on Jammu-Srinagar highway. Some passersby informed army and police about a gas cylinder and a container on the road near northern command formation area in a shop on Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur district last night, police said. A bomb disposal squad was called in which found out that it was not a bomb. A string of bomb blasts have rocked Bangalore and Ahmedabad a few days back in which over 50 people were killed. |
