A committee has been formed to prepare a manifesto of the National Conference for upcoming assembly elections in the state, party president Omar Abdullah said here.
"A committee has been formed to prepare the party's manifesto for the assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year," he said in a statement.
At a meeting of the party's core committee held here yesterday, senior party leader and former minister Mohammad Shafi Uri was appointed as the convener.
In another decision, former Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather was appointed as the party's chief spokesman.
The core committee appealed to the people to strengthen secular fabric of the state and maintain communal harmony. "We appeal that in interests of the nation and Jammu and Kashmir, people should maintain calm and peace," Abdullah said. |
