Jammu | July 31

Asserting that the mass upsurge of the nationalists in Jammu region, was the result of the childish decision of the Ghulam Nabi Azad led minority government in canceling of the earlier order of the full cabinet about the allotment of the land to the Swami Amarnath Shrine Board under pressure of the pro-Pak and separatist elements,
the former Union Minister and a senior BJP leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has strongly retaliated to the change of Azad that current turmoil in Jammu was generated by fundamentalists backed by BJP and other communal benefits. He charged the Congress of being most communal dubious charactered organization of the country.
Addressing a meeting of the party activists from Ramban and Kishtwar areas here, Prof. said that. The Congress has added to the problems and discrimination against Jammu even in the matter of distribution of cheaper rations and representation in services as also in other fields, he alleged and accused the Congress leadership of always playing a politics of deceit and lies.
About communalism, the BJP leader said that the National Conference is the adopted child of the Congress. Till 1939, before its adoption the name of this body was Muslim Conference and mere change of the name cannot change the genetics which even today are communal.
He termed the men of the Congress and that of National Conference as also that of the PDP and other outfits, in Jammu as facilitators to the discrimination against this region by the communally diseased leadership of these parties.
Prof. Gupta asked the Congress, NC and other such like leaders from Jammu areas to explain that during the NC regime before the Assembly elections of 1996, the Farooq led NC Government had amended the State Constitution that there would be no delimitation nor change of any assembly constituencies till 2026. Was this Act of the NC not despotic and deprived the people of Jammu region to have due share in the political power? he asked.
The Congress in their election manifesto of 2002 Assembly Elections had promised to have fresh delimitation and establish Regional Development Board for all the three regions of the state viz Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Azad should explain to the people that during his tenure what was done to undo the regional disparities, he questioned and observed that Congress leaders cannot deceive the people any more by raising misleading slogans and making false claims of progress and prosperity brought during the past about three years.
Prof. Gupta asked the activists to channelize the sentiments of the people against communalism and regional bias being perpetrated by the Congress, NC and other pseudo secular bodies working against this agitation as also in other fields.
