| Anganwari worker’s appointment justified | | | Early Times Reporter

Justice Nirmal Singh of J&K High Court Jammu Wing in a petition challenging the selection of private respondent as Anganwari Worker has upheld the appointment of the private respondent that she has rightly been selected by the authorities as per the ICDS manual.
Justice Singh after hearing both the sides admitted the petition to hearing and observed that the petitioner in the writ petition has stated that the Anganwari center for which she applied is located in Tilla falling under Panchayat Halqa Tewal but at the same time it has been further stated that the petitioner belongs to ward No 7 in which the Anganwari center is located. In the same paragraph it has been stated that petitioner belongs to Village Tilla in which AWC is located whereas private respondent neither belongs to ward in which AWC is located nor from Village Tilla.
The official respondents in their objection stated that petitioner has made contradictory statement regarding location of the Anganwari center for which she applied. Even otherwise the center in the present case is located in Village Tilla Panchayat Halqa Tewal which is clear from the record presented by the respondents. There is no such center sanctioned in ward No 7 where the petitioner resides.
Perusal of copy of state subject of private respondent also shows that she is resident of Village Tilla. The assertion of the petitioner that she being a local candidate where the center is located should have been given the appointment cannot be accepted. The private respondent being a local candidate has rightly been selected by the respondent authority as per the ICDS manual. Court dismissed this petition found to be without merit. |
