Encounter underway between security forces, terrorists in Pulwama

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Kangan area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday (June 3). A top police official confirmed that encounter started after a joint team of Police, Army's 55 RR and 183 BN of CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area.

The official added that as soon as the security forces reached the spot, the terrorists opened fire on them, forcing the security forces to retaliate thus triggering off an encounter.



Sources said that two-three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. Internet services have been snapped in Pulwama as a precautionary measure.

The entire area has been cordoned off by the security forces. It is learnt that the security forces had received a tip-off about the presence of some terrorists in the area after which a massive search and combing operation was launched in the area.
