Jammu | July 31

The much awaited talks between the Governor and the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti ended without any conclusion here this afternoon even as both sides agreed to remain engaged in the dialogue till plausible solution was found.
After sending an invite to the Samiti, which was accepted by its leadership, the Governor arrived here this afternoon to hold dialogue with a delegation of the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti. Convener of Samiti Advocate Leela Karan Sharma was not a part of the dialogue as a team authorized by him had gone to the Raj Bhawan.
The one and half hour long discussion ended without any conclusion but both parties –the Governor and the Samiti –agreed that talks should continue. The agitation which is going on shall continue and the shut down will remain at least till August 3 when the Samiti announced new course of action. No fresh date for a dialogue between the Governor and the Samiti has been worked out so far.
Emerging out of the meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhawan, the Samiti leaders said that the government had not come with any blue print. “No concrete proposal was put before us even though discussed broad contours of issue and functioning of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board”, said a Samiti leader. He added, “our point is very clear that we need the land back and there is no other middle path”.
An official spokesman said that on the invitation of Governor Mr. N. N. Vohra, a six member delegation of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti this evening held discussions on the issues related to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), including diversion of land for raising temporary structures during the yatra period.
The meeting held in a congenial atmosphere, lasted for one and a half hour. There was free and frank exchange of views on the matters relating to the functioning of the SASB Act and the land issue.
The Governor expressed deep concern over the loss of life and property during the past one month. He sought the cooperation of the Sangharsh Samiti in normalizing the prevailing situation which was causing extreme inconvenience to the public at large and huge economic loss. After a detailed discussion the Sangharsh Samiti agreed to continue the dialogue.
The delegation comprised of Mr. Tilak Raj Sharma, Mr. D. K Khajuria, Mr. Narayan Singh, Brig (Rtd) Suchet Singh, Mr. Ramesh Sabarwal and Prof. Narinder Singh. In the talks, the Governor was assisted by his Principal Secretary BB Vyas, Home Secretary Anil Goswami and DGP Kuldeep Khoda.
