| Several trade union organisations extend full support to SASS | | ‘Condemn misinformation campaign launched by separatists’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 1
Expressing their full support to the present agitation in Jammu being spearheaded by Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti, leaders of various trade organizations of Jammu connected with tourism and pilgrimage, have appealed to the people at large to hold demonstrations and protests in a peaceful manner. In a joint statement issued here today Inderjeet Khajuria, President All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association, Kuldeep Wahi, President Jammu Prayatan Vikas Mandal, Ashiq Hussain Khan President Talab Khatakian Hoteliers Association, H S Anand, President Hotel Bar and Restaurant Association, Mahesh Padha President Jammu Tourist Trade Employees Federation, Ashwani Sharma President Shopkeepers Association Bus Stand Jammu, Vikramjeet Singh Below Gumeet Hotelier Association, Pawan Gupta President Hari Market Traders Welfare Association, Baldev Khullar President Raghunath Bazar Traders Union, have appealed the youth not to destroy public property, since the same is a national asset. They have particularly appealed to the agitators in the length and breadth of Jammu region not to cause damage to the vehicles plying on the roads, and instead appeal the transporters to join the chaka jam, which is the part of the agitational program but in no way harass and put to mental torture the drivers and conductors of the load carriers. Appealing the people to maintain perfect communal harmony, which is already existing throughout the present agitation, the signatories to the statement condemned the misinformation campaign launched by the separatists and anti national elements in Kashmir, raising wolf cry of Kashmiri Muslim drivers being subjected to harassment and mental torture by the agitators in Jammu. They warned the mischief mongers in Kashmir against trying to give communal colouring to the present agitation in Jammu and said that the truck owners and drivers belong to all the communities and most of them are Sikhs, while a large number of are also Hindus from Jammu. Hence the statement issued by the Hurriyat leaders and some other secessionist leaders in Kashmir that Kashmiri Muslims were selectively being targeted by the agitators is mischievous and aimed at inciting communal passions both in Kashmir and Jammu. The present agitation is neither political nor communal in any way and has the participation of the members of all the communities, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians and any attempt by the enemies of peace and of Jammu to give any wrong interpretation to the same will be foiled and resisted by all sections of Jammu people, the statement added. The leaders condemned the threat held by Hurriyat Conference that they will not allow the civil Secretariat to move down to Jammu in winter and warned of serious consequence of any such move launched by the secessionists. The leaders added that such blackmailing tactics will force the Jammu people to demand separate state of Jammu as the people of Jammu are already fed up of hegemony of Kashmiri politicians and bureaucrats over them. The statement further said that the present fight of Jammu people is against the fundamentalist and secessionist forces in Kashmir and for upholding the national integration and true spirit of secularism, which honours religious sentiments of all the communities. |
