Political party leaders have appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace in the state.
The leaders, who met governor N N Vohra in Jammu on Friday evening, asked the people of Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace and calm in this difficult hour.
"It is our collective responsibility to maintain peace and harmony across the region, the state and the country," said the appeal published in local dailies on Saturday.
"We believe that even the most contentious issues can be resolved through the democratic process, based on dialogue and reconciliation," it said.
"We appeal to people to be aware of false propaganda and rumours and demonstrate their values of accommodation and tolerance and urge the governor to ensure strict enforcement of the rule of law to provide safety and security to every citizen of the state," it added |
