Pledging support to agitation, Muslims ask for security

After repeatedly having pledged their support to the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti in the ongoing agitation, the Muslims of Jammu and its adjoining areas, today called upon the administration to make arrangement for their security as they were repeatedly coming under attacks of the mobs.
Around 200 Muslims, mostly Gujjars, had meeting here today and expressed their deep regrets that despite being supporters of agitation they were being attacked and properties were being ransacked by the mobsters in several areas. They said that the Gujjars in Kathua, Samba and Akhnoor were being repeatedly attacked by the mobs even though they stand by the agitation.
Meanwhile, condemning the yesterdays attacks on Muslim Gujjars in Jammu and adjoining areas the two leading organizations of Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir today appealed Governor of the state N.N Vohra to intervene and provide adequate security to the minority Muslim community of Jammu region who are facing brunt of the agitation instigated by various organizations.
In a joint Press Statement issued here Ch. Mohammad Anwar State President of Gujjars United Front and Haji Shamsher Ali Boken, President J&K Gujjar Bakerwal Joint Forum alleged that State government has failed to protect our people in, Jammu, Reasi, Samba, Akhnoor and Kathua districts where mob had destroyed the Gujjar property and Set fire the Gujjar houses and other properties. They appealed the Governor to issue order for development of adequate cotangent of Army in Jammu Reasi, Samba, Kathua and Jammu so that the life and property of Gujjars is saved.
The leaders said that the Muslim Gujjars of Jammu region who are in minority feel insecure and a number of hamlets of Gujjars set of fire by protestors in Samba and Kathua districts last night. In order to avoid the communal tension in various parts of the state, the leader suggested that civil society be involved to reduce the ongoing tension in various parts of Jammu region.
They alleged that Government has failed to discharge all the responsibilities of safety and security of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Both leaders appealed the Jammuites to maintain communal harmony, mutual brotherhood and peace for which they are popular centuries, both Gujjar leaders Mohammad Anwar Chowdhary and Hajji Shamsher Ali Boken appealed the people of Jammu to maintain calm and not fell prey to the evil designs of communal and anti peace elements.
They appealed the masses to restore normalcy and not get misled by vested interests who want to create disturbance and destroy the peaceful and tranquil environment of the State.
Both leaders appealed the Gujjar community not to be provoked with nefarious designs of communal forces. They said that Gujjars should play their role in restoring the normalcy and not to get misled by vested interests who want to create disturbance and destroy the peace and tranquility
