BJP National General Secretary and incharge of Jammu and Kashmir affairs, Arun Jaitly today accused the Governor NN Vohra of taking people of Jammu for granted even as he vowed that his party will rake up the Shri Amarnath Shrine land issue at national level.
Jaitly arrived here this morning to take stock of the emerging situation in Jammu region on Amarnath Shrine land issue. He was the only leader coming from New Delhi who was allowed by the administration to enter the town as earlier firebrand Hindu leader Sadhvi Ritambhra was pushed back and another firebrand leader Uma Bharti was taken into preventive custody.
Speaking to the media persons, Jaitly said that BJP would launch nation wide stir on August 11 to mobilize public support for the mass movement in Jammu. He also announced that BJP would bring its political agenda in front of people at the appropriate time in response to a question whether BJP would use agitation over Amarnath land transfer as its poll plank.
Holding centre and state governor equally responsible for the prevailing situation in Jammu Jaitley said BJP fully supports the Jammu agitation as it has become people’s movement. The sufferings and pain of people of Jammu dominated by the Kashmiris is coming to the fore in the form of agitation, Jaitley said issuing warnings to the state administration not to suppress the voice of Jammu. The agitation in Jammu was not being channelised by any political party or leader it has now become mass movement of common people on the streets, he added.
He, however, alleged that only to appease the separatist forces and the fundamentalists, the government has alienated the nationalist people of Jammu.
The issue raked up only when the administration bowed before the separatists and revoked the order, the BJP leader said asserting, now people of Jammu, who believe in nationalism are no more in a position to tolerate discrimination and finally the emotions broke out. Mr Jaitley added at the moment Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra should realise the pain of people, which he has not so far.
Once Mr Vohra starts feeling the pain and respects the sentiments, he will start acting in favour of the state and the nation as well, Mr Jaitley, BJP in-charge for J&K Affairs added
He pointed that Vohra alienated from the national forces and floated the thoughts of separatists without keeping in mind the sentiments of Jammu people.'' He alleged that the Governor had misconceptions about the people of Jammu and was unaware of unity and integrity of the region. ''People have come out of their house with one voice. The massive agitation and protests are a clear indication of fight for their rights,'' Mr Jaitley added.
He, however, also asked the people to keep in mind the sanctity of all religions and avoid violence during agitation. ''To strengthen the agitation, incidents provoking inter-community fights and hurting the religious sentiments must be taken care of,'' the BJP leader added.
