| Shut down extended till Aug 8 | | Curfew severely defied, 23 injured | |
Early Times Reporter Jammu, Aug 3: On twelfth straight day of ongoing agitation for Shri Amarnath Shrine land, people in strong numbers once again vehemently defied curfew restrictions and took out protests and demonstration in different parts of Jammu city and several other areas of the region. Reports of violation of prohibitory restrictions and protests and demonstrations have also been received from Samba, Udhampur and Rajouri districts. Curfew continued without any relaxation in four districts and Army took out peace march across the towns to instill confidence among the people. Meanwhile, the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti has extended the shut down call by another period of five days. A spokesman of Samiti said that shut down will continue till August 8. Though there was no word from the administration but it is learnt that Curfew is also likely to continue till the time shut down continues. Violent protests and demonstration have been reported from the areas of Domana, Muthi, Ban Talab, Tallab Tillo and Digiana where people came into thousands defying curfew restrictions. Though the Army and other paramilitary forces tried to maintain strict order in the areas but people refused to relent. As many as 23 people have been reported injured in clashes at different places.
