Jammu | Aug 4

Regretting that Sonia Gandhi has not learnt any lesson from the plight of her mother in law Indira Gandhi in the wake of emergency clamped by her win 1975 in the country, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader P rof Chaman Lal Gupta has alleged that virtually worse than emergency is being perpetrated in Jammu region through her nominee the Governor Vohra. The incumbent who is acting more on the advice of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Dr, Farooq Abdullah and the PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti has let loose reign of terror through deployment of Army, CRPF, RAF ignoring all the norms of civil dispensation, Gupta said and added that in fact this sort of barbaric approach to deal with the ongoing agitation has resulted in a turmoil all over the region.
Prof Gupta in a handout has warned that all this in human and beastly approach would have serious consequences not only in this state but elsewhere too as the nationalists would not allow the perpetuating this sort of totalitarianism. He regretted that Government is not all serious to find out the solution and suggested that instead of repression government should come with some proposals to end this impasse.
Sharply reacting to the imposition of continued curfew, lathi charge and firing coupled with incriminate use of teargas shells against the demonstrators; Prof Gupta lamented the state administration for putting a ban on the operation of TV channels and beating up of several media persons. He said such type of actions speaks volumes about the happenings and that too in 21st century in a part of the country which has solemnly opted for democracy and rule of law. ‘What was being done is a matter of shame for those who still claim to be the followers of father of the Nation, Prof Gupta observed.
The BJP leader further pointed out that the media persons especially many of the local papers in troubled valley of Kashmir are not only being allowed but rather encouraged in flaming the anti-India sentiments.
