| Various parties, organizations condemn Police firing at Samba | | Puri condemns crackdown on media | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 4
While sitting on fast unto death at Party Headquarters at Gandhi Nagar here from today, JKNPP Chairman Prof. Bhim Sing has strongly condemned the Police firing on protesters at Samba today noon in which one boy died and two others were seriously injured. Prof. Bhim has demanded stern action against the barbaric act of the policeman responsible. Meanwhile, former MLA and General Secretary JKNPP, Yashpal Kundal, who visited Hospital to see the injured, urged the Governor to dismiss the SSP who ordered firing on the mob only to generate more tension and unrest in the region. He said that unless the Police Officer is not shifted/punished public will not allow the body of the youth to be cremated. Kundal is also sitting on dharna in support of fast unto death resorted to by Prof. Bhim Singh An emergency meeting under the leadership of JKNPP State President Bansi Lal Sharma was held in which the Police action at Samba was vehemently condemned and rich tributes paid to the martyrs. Panther’s leaders who are sitting on dharna to support Prof. Bhim Singh include P.K. Ganjoo, Anita Thakur, Gulam Ali, H. C. Jalmaria, Ramesh Khajuria, Jagdev Singh, S. Paramjeet Singh Marshall, Naresh Chib, Vinod Jamwal, Shanker Singh Chib, Gurcharan Singh, Balbir Singh, Shyam Mangotra, and Sunil Singh Jamwal. They also demanded grant of ex-gratia relief of Ra.10 lakhs to the bereaved families immediately besides appealing the Governor and the Prime Minister to restore normalcy in Jammu region by accepting their genuine demands. Balraj Puri, a social activist has also condemned the day long crackdown on media persons including ban on TV channels and SMS, which he said proved ineffective and counter productive. He demanded issuance of curfew passes to the newspapers hawkers as the supply of newspapers has been totally stopped in many areas. Puri has also expressed his concern over the reported attacks on minority community by some persons and their repercussions in districts like Doda, Rajouri and Poonch. He appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony at all costs and warned unless these tendencies are checked in time; the very identity of Jammu would be threatened. Jammu State Front strongly accused Kashmiri leaders for branding Jammu agitation as communal and said that Kashmir has become complete communal zone for the last 60 years and the recent opposition by Hurriyat Conference and PDP and all Kasmir based parties completely exposed the rampant communalism of Kashmir on the land transfer issue . The National conference (NC) leaders have strongly condemned the killings of the innocent persons namely Sanjeev Singh and Pawan Padha in Police firing at Samba today. Expressing shock and grief over the incident, NC leaders have asked the Governor to provide ex-gratia refilef of Rs 5.00 lac to the next kith and kin of the deceased beside injured persons should be given best free medical treatment. NC also urged the Governor to restrain the Police from taking human lives and to order Judicial Inquiry into the killings and injuries at Samba. Expressing heartfelt sympathies with the families of the deceased have also demanded one government job to all the four deceased families. Leaders also appealed the people keep cool, calm and uphold the traditional glorious brotherhood and frustrate the designs of such forces who are trying to vitiate the atmosphere. The signatories to the statement are Ajay Sadhotra, Rattan Lal Gupta, Surjeet Singh Salathia, Devender Singh Rana, MLC, Th. Kashmira Singh, Mahinder Gupta, Chander Udhey Singh and Som Nath Manyal. Meanwhile a local leader, Satwant Kour Dogra of the area also condemned the police firing killing two youth on spot. While talking to “Early Times” on phone, she said un-necessary by police open fire on peaceful protestors causing death to two youths of the area. She said, police also beat up women protestors also, resulting serious injuries to them. She said conditions on going from bad worst, as Govt failed to curb it.
They have also condemned the killing of two innocent youth at samba by police. JSF stated that the sacrifices of these people of Duggar Paradesh will not go waste . Jammu Tigers, a force for justice, have strongly condemned the unprecedented police repression in Jammu and attempts by the state administration headed by Governor NN Vohra to communalize the situation in Jammu region. In a statement issued here, Jammu Tigers supremo Kuljeet Singh Jamwal condemning the police action in Samba where two youth were killed and score others injured said that Vohra donning the new avtaar of Pakistan President Parvez Musharraf has ordered the administration to crush the nationalist people of Jammu at all costs to appease separatists and pro-Pakistan elements in Kashmir. He said that such repressive tactics would not defeat the nationalist sentiments in Jammu and he would never succeed in committing the Jammu region to a communal holocaust. Singh said that police action and repressive policies would further aggravate the situation in Jammu region and central government should immediately intervene to restore a semblance of peace and order in Jammu. Jammu Warrior Front (JWF) also expressed deep shock and anguish over the killings of two more youth of Samba in police firing. Rajesh Gupta , Chairman JWF condemned the dictatorial rule of Governor. He also condemned the role of adminstartion in gagging media. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president and former minister Thakur Randhir Singh have flayed the administration in mishandling of situation in the region. In a press statement issued here today, Randhir said the agitation of Shri Amarnath land row is reaching every nook and corner of the Jammu region and has taken shape of mass movement involving all the communities. He said banning of print media in performing their professional duties is a matter of great concern. He said party chief and union minister Sharad Pawar has been fully apprised about the agitation, who is very concern about it. The Jammu Kashmir national party president Dr. Randeep Singh Parihar also condemn the state govt. action in suppressing the on going movement launched by the Jammuites for their genuine rights. He strongly criticized the action of police on innocent people and said the banning of cable channels and SMS by the administration is highly condemnable. He demanded to initiate the enquiry against the present governor. .All India Brahmin Federation and leaders of various social organizations also strongly condemned the highly repressive step taken by the governor N.N. Vohra is handling over the Jammu city, its periphery and some other places to the army and announcement made repeatedly by the police that any one found moving out will be shot at sight. Expressing their restrictions imposed on their movement, for discharge of their professional duty, the leaders have also assailed the authorities for such repressive measures. The General secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Milchar Font K.K Rao have people of Jammu region to maintain communal harmony and defeat the evil designs of some vested interests people who are hell bent upon to sabotage the ongoing agitation. He expressed serious concern over the situation and condemned the controversial order of the Government which led to the tension in the region. He sought intervention of President of India in to the matter as the government has failed to control the situation and its anti-people decision. Rao said that government decision to first restrict the movement of media person has exposed deep rooted conspiracy against the freedom of expression and democratic valves epically in Jammu region but the government can not suppress the popular movement. Terming the situation very grave in Jammu, He said that imposition of indefinite curfew and gagging of media was no solution to the problem; Governor should address the basic issue instead of indulging in such anti-people acts. Some anti-national elements and agents of some political parties at Rajouri, Badharwah and Doda who are hell bent to sabotage the ongoing movement but the present movement has become people’s movement inspired by the 60 years misrule of Kashmiri rulers and continuous discrimination against Jammu region. |
