| Mehbooba appeals central Govt for liberal assistance | | | Srinagar Sep 07 : Peoples Democratic Party president and Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti along with MLA Devsar Mohammad Sartaj Madni today visited various flood affected areas of Bijbehara, Homshalibugh, Anantnag and Devsar constituencies. She also visited worst hit interior areas of Khudwani, Qaimoh, Shamshipora, LarmGanjipora, Sekul, Kilam and Gund.
Mehbooba Mufti assured the flood affected people that the relief and rehabilitation measures are afoot and the affected would be provided all possible assistance. Ms. Mehbooba directed the district administration to restore all essential services including power, water supply and road communication in the affected areas. She also asked the district administration to ensure immediate restoration of power supply to the water supply schemes rendered defunct for want of power supply. She also directed the administration to depute teams immediately to the affected areas to assess the losses caused to the property and standing crops sot that timely disbursement of relief to the fold affected people be ensured.
She appealed the central government to provide liberal financial assistance to the state keeping in view the magnitude of the losses caused to the property and standing corps. She also demanded rehabilitation of those flood affected people who are prone to flood threats off and on at safer places by allotting plots to them.
Mehbooba Mufti also demanded six months free ration to the people whose crops have got damaged by the flood water.
She was accompanied by a team of officers of district administration and various other departments.
