JAMMU, June 24 : A Division Bench of J&K High Court Comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul while hearing a Public Interest Litigation in which an application was filed regarding death of two people in Jammu District during cremation of Covid-19 patient, issued notice to the UT Administration and also issued notices to Divisional Commissioner, Jammu as well as Srinagar, Jammu Municipal Corporation as well as Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
AAG Aseem Sawheny accepts notice on behalf of respondents.
DB directed respondents to file a status report regarding the SOPs regarding burial/cremation of mortalities on account of COVID-19 and the steps taken to publicize the same.
DB further directed to file status report regarding details of special arrangements which are being made at cremation grounds and burial grounds with regard to cremation and burial of dead bodies of persons who succumb to COVID-19 infection and specific measures with regard to disposal of the masks, gloves, PPEs, Sheets, etc which are related to the aforesaid burials/cremations.
DB directed that the report shall be filed before the next date of hearing i.e. July 7, 2020. JNF
