In a joint statement the leaders of Jammu State Morcha (P), Prof. Virender Gupta, Dig Vijay Singh, Virander Magotra, Divender Singh Jamwal and Chandra Udey Sharma have strongly criticized and condemned the unprovoked firing by the SSP on the people at Samba who were peacefully protesting against the Government action in the Shri Amarnath Shrine land case thereby killing two persons and seriously injuring about two dozen and also the brutal lathi charge of police on women there. They warned the State authorities that such extreme and uncalled for repressive measures would aggravate the prevailing situation further and asked the Government to immediately concede the demands of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangrash Samiti to restore peace in Jammu region.
These leaders also strongly condemned the statements of Hurriyat and PDP leaders dubbing the present Jammu agitation as communal and parochial. These leaders are living in a fool’s paradise and maintained that their outburst is far removed from the reality of this agitation wherein the people of all communities irrespective of their faith are participating vigorously against the decision of the Government in the matter of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. The statement that Muslim community in Jammu region is being harassed and targeted is false and the statements are just meant to destroy the excellent communal harmony, brotherhood being enjoyed by all communities in Jammu region. JSM wants these leaders to look into their own backyards where they have been through out their life pursuing the policies of communal hatred, responsible for the spread of terrorism in the Valley and ethnic cleansing by forcing the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and other secular minded people, including Kashmiri Muslims from the Valley. Their present stand is again based on their long pursued parochial and communal politics on Shri Amarnath Shrine Board that has compelled the people of Jammu region to come on streets to seek justice.
The leaders were also critical of the concern being shown by the Kashmiri leaders about the Integrity of the J&K State. The Kashmiri leaders in the last 60 years have been pursuing anti-Jammu policies, thereby not allowing Jammu region to have its due share in the State polity, economy and administration, and in development. They treated Jammu region as their colony and tried to thrust their wishes and decisions on the people of the region ignoring their wishes and interests. The Kashmiri Muslim leadership talks of Kashmiriat (of Kashmiri Muslims), Kashmiri Nation and thinks Kashmir Valley as a whole Jammu and Kashmir State. For them neither Ladakh nor Jammu region has any importance. They always opposed the due representation of people Jammu region in the state assembly, in the civil secretariat and other Government Departments. They, being at the helm of the affairs always subjected Jammu region to the worst kind of discrimination in the matter of development, allocations of funds and selection in the professional institutions. Jammu region feels completely alienated from the Valley because of the consistent anti- Jammu and communal policies being pursued and in their communal, anti-Jammu and anti-Hindu behaviour in Shri Amarnath Shrine Board land case has aggravated the alienation further. If the state is at the verge of disintegration, the responsibility of this lies on the Kashmiri leadership and also on the Government of India and the leadership of all National Political Parties who not merely remained mute spectator but encouraged the Kashmiri leadership to infringe wounds on the people of Jammu region, the statement added.
JSM (P) welcomes if Jammu and Kashmir State is disintegrated, though the conditions of its disintegration were and are being created by the Kashmiri leadership and by the power at Delhi. The disintegration of the present State of Jammu and Kashmir into three states of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir would be a boon for the Jammu and Ladakh regions. People of these regions would be relieved from Kashmir domination and the atrocities being committed on them. They would be the masters of their own destiny and would be able to make their respective regions prosperous and happy while maintaining their long traditions of secularism respecting each others faiths, interests and sentiments, the leaders said in the statement.
