Jammu | Aug 6

The Bajrang Dal today announced a nationwide 'chakka jam' on August 13 to protest against the Jammu and Kashmir Government for suppressing the voice of the minority community in the state and revoking the order of the forest land diversion in the favour of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) in south Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here, Bajrang Dal national convenor Prakash Sharma condemned the police action against the people, demanding action against guilty officials and restoration of land to the SASB.
Blaming the government for spoiling the Buddha Amarnath Yatra, Mr Sharma said over 500 people were sent back from the Jammu Tawi railway station by the administration, while over 1500 were languishing at various places, including the Yatra base camp at Bhagwati Nagar.
A month-long 'Saawan Maas' yatra of Budhha Amarnath pilgrimage in the bordering Poonch district, which is conducted by the Bajrang Dal for a week, had crossed the mark one lakh last year, he said.
The Bajrang Dal leader said its activists had started gherao of Members of Parliament to strengthen the ongoing agitation, which is being spearheaded by the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS), a conglomerate of several political and non-political organisations.
''We will hold a nationwide 'chakka jam' from 0900 hrs to 1100 hrs on August 13 as a token to protest against the government,'' he announced.
Taking a dig at some Kashmir-based politicians and separatists, Mr Sharma said, ''It is highly condemnable that they are trying to give communal colour to the ongoing agitation, which has support from all the people of Jammu, including the Muslims.''
