“The world secularism has become a big joke these days especially in Jammu and Kashmir.”
This was stated by the former Union Minister and a senior leader of the BJP, Prof Chaman Lal Gipta, while addressing meetings at Jhiri and some places in Akhnoor areas. He alleged that the current turmoil was the result of bucking of the Congress leadership to the pressure of the pro-Pak and secessionists coupled with the buckling of the Congress leaders on the issue of allotment of a piece of land to the Shrine Board.
He said that the agitation is being spare-headed by the Swami Amarnath Yatra Sangrash Samiti which is comprised of over two dozen religious and other bodies of Jammu, and BJP is also supporting the Sangrash Samiti in their programme and has virtually come to a mass movement of all Jammuities. They included Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims as also the others having different faiths, Gupta added and alleged that the leaders of the Congress too, in addition to those National Conference , PDP, Hurriyat Conference and their likes are busy in spreading canards by opting the maxim of Kettle calling the pot black.
The BJP observed that the agitation in Jammu has been going on for the past over five weeks. The Jammuties have been facing the untold oppression and suppression. All out forced are let loose which include the Kashmir Armed Police, CRPF, RAF, BSF and also the Army. The Section 144 as also the curfew was clamped at number of places including in this capital city of Jammu with little relaxation for days together.
To crush the agitation for countless times the demonstrators including even the woman and children were subjected to lathi charging, tear gassing, firing and even the use of prohibited chemical like the Red Water. Thousands of people were injured and about half dozen have been shot dead. Large number of the people were arrested and put behind bars, he added and arrested that the brave people have made it clear to all concerned that they can’t be crowed down by any amount of repression.
Referring to the support of many Congressmen and some others from the NC and PDP, Prof. Gupta regretted that their leaders including former Chief Minister Azad is still beating about the bushes and attempting to blame the BJP for turmoil although the fact remains that he is the main guilty person speaking lies in and outside the state.
He appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony and avoid violence which is in fact being engineered by him Congress and d their fellow travelers
