Early Times Report

SUNDERBANI, July 7: The higher ups of Rural Development Department (RDD) have taken serious note in the bungling in allotment of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) in the Nallah Makol Panchayat in this tehsil of Rajouri district.
Following the reprimand from the higher ups Block Development Officer (BDO) Sunderbani Raman Sharma has directed the Village Level Worker (VLW) Sheel Kumar and Panchayat Inspector Pradeep Chand to carry out Gram Sabha meeting in the Panchayat and check the wrong doings in framing of the list.
Early Times has learnt that BDO Sunderbani has issued directions through an order in this regard and same has been sent to the VLW and Panchayat Inspector. The order has been issued in this regard under the correspondence number BDO/SB/2020-21-486-87 dated 6-07-2020. The VLW and Panchayat Inspector have been asked to carry out the process and submit the report to office of BDO Sunderbani.
Both the VLW and Panchayat Inspector while talking to Early Times confirmed about the responsibility entrusted on them. They said that they would visit the Panchayat at the earliest and carry out the Gram Sabha in order to check out for the wrongs done in the list of beneficiaries under the PMAY.
In the meantime, the residents of Nallah Makol Panchayat consisting of Nahoti, Barnara, Makol and Nallah have urged Secretary RDD Sheetal Nanda to form a committee comprising of members other than that of office of BDO Sunderbani. They demanded that a door to door survey should be carried out in order to find out the truth.
It would be in place to mention here that Early Times had published a story on July 6, 2020 that RDD has prepared a list of 128 persons who are entitled to houses under the PMAY in the Nallah Makol Panchayat of Sunderbani tehsil. The list is not a ‘real’ one since most of the deserving people including the widows have been left out with the non-deserving getting the share.
