| Suppression, despotism won’t deter people from its chosen path: Gupta | | Worst type of undeclared emergency imposed in Jammu’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 7
Strongly denouncing the use of Army to suppress the nationalist people of Jammu, who are agitating for a cause which is linked with not only a faith but also the basic principles of unity of the country and equal rights to all, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has observed that ‘a worst type of undeclared emergency is being enacted for the past several weeks by the Congress leadership through their nominee the Governor N N Vohra. Paying tributes to martyr Narinder Sharma of Jakh Bandh in Kathua, who was killed in firing of the Army at Palli Morh yesterday, Prof Gupta expressed his shock and pain that just to appease the elements of disintegration, separatism and fundamentalism, the men in authority led by the Congress at New Delhi, are employing all sorts of belt forces including the Army to crush the movement of people against non-secular and communal approach adopted by some leaders of the NC, PDP and that of secessionists. Warning of grave consequences of such type of suppression and despotism, the BJP leader said that brave people of Jammu have demonstrated so many times in the past and they cannot be cowed down by any amount of bullets, teargassing, lathies, stoning and other kinds of vandalism and inhumane approach. Saying that no doubt the land issue is an important one, Prof Gupta reiterated that the current upsurge of the masses indicates that this was outburst of the accumulated anger that they have been discriminated against in every sphere of life. This discrimination, he added, was quite evident even in the convening of the all party meet by PM that those leaders of Kashmir who were invited to the meet were themselves responsible for the turmoil because of their communal approach and inflammatory utterances. Ignoring the representatives of the Sangrash Samiti, spearheading the movement in Jammu, Prof Gupta said that this shows how the centre is serious to sort out the problem. Alleging that Congress was the root cause of problems in Jammu and Kashmir, Prof Gupta said that this party was never having a policy to deal in this state as a part of India and always adopted the approach of buckling under internal and external pressures. Prof Gupta said that those who have laid down their lives for a cause would always be remembered and the patriotic people would never forget them. |
