| Muslim Front announces ad hoc body | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 7
To address various issues confronting the Muslims of Jammu ever since the dawn of independence, the Muslim Front Jammu has unanimously decided to set up regional Muslim organization. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held at Zubairbad Sujwan here today. The meeting also constituted an ad-hoc committee with Chaudhary Abdul Hamid as its President. The adhoc committee has been tasked for setting up of a regional political forum for taking up the problems of the community. The front discussed the situation obtaining in the state particularly in Jammu and its suburban areas. The participating members highlighted the issues emerging out of the agitation being spearheaded by Sangrash Samiti and expressed deep concern over the recent incidents where assets of minority community members living in the secluded areas were being targeted creating fear psychosis among them. The meeting unanimously resolved to impress upon the Sangarsh Samiti to contain situation and ensure that the incidents of targeting Muslims are stopped forthwith and the age old traditions of communal harmony and brotherhood is maintained. According to a front handout Bashir Ahmed Khatana, Ch. Hussain Ali and Malik Abdul Gani have been elected as vice presidents, Ashiq Hussain as general secretary, Suhail Kazmi as publicity secretary-cum spokesperson, Ch. Noor Alam joint secretary and Mohammed Farooq as treasurer. The handout further said that Prof Zahur-ud-Din and Haji Abdul Ghani Kohli have been elected as Chief Patron and Patron respectively. |
