| Withdrawal of army sought | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 7
A political leader from Samba, Satwant Kaur Dogra has urged upon the state administration to withdraw army from the cities and allow people to move freely. Addressing a rally at Greater Kailash Colony here today, she said, no body on the earth can suppress the ongoing agitation, as it is a people’s movement, fighting for their rights. She said killing of unarmed persons by police is a heinous crime. She demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the bereaved family of Narinder Kumar of Kathua, who was yesterday killed by the army. She said confusion has been created by the former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad by stating that “land was never transferred to the shrine board”. She ask Azad and his then cabinet colleagues to explain to the people of Jammu that what was in order if not land which were cancelled by them. She advised the leaders to refrain from misleading the people of Jammu, on not inviting leaders of Jammu. She said “no decision can be reached without taking into confidence the people of Jammu who have given an unprecedented support to the agitation”. Nothing less than the restoration of land to SASB can solve the problems. She said, and appealed the people for peaceful restrain. |
