| Bum Bum Bhole, Mangat bhi bole | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 7
Amidst the chants of Bum Bum Bhole and a sea of humanity pouring over on roads every day when all Congress leaders have nearly blurred their identities to support what every Jammuite is saying, the last among them too has toed the line of others. Jammu’s grand old man of Congress, Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma had long been conspicuous by his absence from the public scene. Of course, he did not have any more outlets to inaugurate during these days of shut down. But he continued to maintain an eerie silence on the Shri Amarnath Shrine land issue for over a month till today when he admitted that the cabinet of which he was a part, did make some mistakes. Pandit ji today made a surprise appearance at Gandhi headquarter of Panthers Party where its leader Bhim Singh is sitting on a fast unto death. Speaking to the visiting scribes there, he said that cabinet headed by the former Chief Minister Ghulm Nabi Azad while diverting the piece of land to the Amarnath shrine board had not realize the nature of the fall out. Sharma said that current turmoil in state is worrisome and necessitates careful application of mind before taking any decision. He said the two distinct regions in the state Jammu and Kashmir respond differently to the same decision and vested interests on both sides are triggering hatred to create wedge between the two regions. When confronted with the question whether the decision to divert the land and further revocation of the land transfer order were both taken in haste and without the application of mind , Mangat Ram Sharma quipped, people alike you and me are sitting in the cabinet and they are no Gods. They can also commit mistakes .He however, added that a dialogue process at the highest level has started with the intervention of congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. It may be mentioned here that almost all senior leaders of the Congress have thrown their spanner behind the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti and have been demanding recall of the Governor NN Vohra. Mangat, though did not make any such suggestion, but he agreed that Azad cabinet erred on the decision.
