Even as violent protests continued to rage across the region, the course of dialogue has started making some headway with Centeral Government naming the all-party delegation and the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti agreeing to engage in talks.
Meanwhile, the four-member panel appointed by the Governor NN Vohra to hold consultations with the Samiti today met to put its acts together and extended an invitation to the SAYSS. When contacted, the Samiti spokesman, Tilak Raj Sharma told EARLY TIMES, that they are ready for holding talks with the Central team as well as the Governor’s four-member panel. “We are not averse to any dialogue but they should be aware of the basic question that we are not for anything less than restoration of land to the Shrine Board”, Sharma said.

The Governor made it abundantly clear that there was no economic blockade in the state and if at all there was any problem on account of movement of traffic, it was mainly due to disruption of traffic on the highway and not due to any blockade. He said after he had spoken to Punjab Chief Minister, S. Prakash Singh Badal twice and other interventions at different levels, the problem of movement of trucks carrying supplies passing through Punjab has been removed and the trucks are now plying smoothly even during day time also. He said no body will be allowed to damage the railway track or hamper free movement of supplies to various parts of the state and for the purpose, all possible surveillance of the highway and the railway track will be ensured.
