| Social activist lodges complaint before SHRC | | ‘Showing disrespect to martyr Kuldeep’s body a grave Human Rights violation’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 8
A social activist Sukesh C Khajuria has filed a complaint before the Jammu and Kashmir Human Rights Commission demanding action against all those responsible for showing disrespect to the body of the martyr Kuldeep Kumar Verma who sacrificed his life for a genuine cause of restoration of 800 kanals of land to SASB. The complainant further submitted that the way the body was shown disrespect and put to flames after pouring in kerosene and liquor is the gross violation of the human rights and religious beliefs of the Hindus. The complainant also referred the provocative speech of Omar Abdullah Member Parliament and President J&K National Conference on the trust motion moved by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Omar Abdullah is reported to have said that "I am a Muslim and I am an Indian and I see no distinction between the two" and at the same tone he remarked that " Hamari Zamin Ka Mudda Tha, Hum Apni Zameen Ke Liye lade, aur marte damtak zameen ke liya ladengay". This provocative speech of Omar Abdullah has hurt the sentiments of the Hindus leading to the death of Kuldeep who sacrificed his life at the Dharna site. The complainant has given the details about the entire episode and the manner in which the body was taken from the dharna site and shifted to Bishnah for last rites during the midnight which is totally against the Hindu religion and speaks volumes of human rights violation committed by the cops in uniform. The complainant has prayed before the SHRC for recommending high level action both criminal/ disciplinary against erring police/civil administration officials who were instrumental in executing the mid-night operation at Parade Ground from where the body of the martyr Kuldeep Kumar Verma was taken away brutally and shifted to Bishanh and her wife was badly treated and mauled before the public eye.
