| SDP advocates for change of Governor | | ‘Centre’s lackadaisical attitude regrettable’ | | Early Times Reporter

Describing the all party meet convened by the Prime Minister as a mere eye wash, Dr. Darakshan Andrabi, SDP President has said that the role of the Central government in the worst ever situation prevailing in the state is ridiculous. She said she was shocked by the irresponsible attitude of Central government in resolving the issue. It was very funny situation in Delhi when the Prime Minister convened the so-called all parties meet and invited only those political leaders who gave birth to such an unfortunate situation in the state, he added.
Addressing media persons here today she also advocated for change of the Governor keeping in view of the aspirations of the masses adding that there is no harm in going for it. We cannot ignore the aspirations of the people for our political whims. The present Governor landed in the controversy from the day-one and anybody who lives in controversy can never be effective in restoring peace and goodwill of the people as a whole, she observed. Dr. Andrabi said that his (Governor’s) failure came to lime light when his only meet with AYSS failed utterly and closed all doors for him to meet them again. Now appointing of four members Committee is again the wastage of time, she added. Centre should now act consciously and appoint somebody as the governor of the state who has public acceptability in both the regions. This is must for resolving the most crucial situation, the state is in, she demanded.
Dr. Andrabi stressed the need for ‘nationalist and truly secular political leadership to take the front stage in the state so that regionalist and communalistic political dictates don’t divide us anymore’. PDP, NC, Panthers and Congress parties have failed to cater to the aspirations of all communities and regions. But alas! New Delhi is hell bent upon projecting these trouble-creators as our representatives, she lamented.
She demanded immediate reconstitution of the Amarnath Shrine Board to be headed by any prominent uncontroversial personality and proposed the name of Dr Karan Singh to head the new Board. All other members can be the state-subject bureaucrats. I will personally not like people from any organization/political ideology to be in the Board. Then immediately the land for the temporary rehabilitation of Yatris should be allotted to this new Board on lease, she added.
Taking PDP patron and its president to task for propagating anti-national sentimentalism and said that these ill-willed politicians are continuously issuing provocative statements in Kashmir valley and are responsible for misleading innocent Kashmiris.
The SDP President said that ‘she was quite shocking to listen to the short-sighted approach of Mirwaiz dividing the state on Hindu-Muslim grounds in his press conference in Kashmir. He still boasts of being secular and labels others as communal. I will even lay down my life for defeating this ill-design. Let Mirwaiz know that J&K is not his ‘meeras’ only and we, the people of J&K will not tolerate such mean insults. Again let me on behalf of the mature people of the state warn him that cheap reactions are in no way acceptable to us. The leaders like Mirwaiz are day by day accepting the truth that they are not the state’s representatives but of small mohallas were they live and exist because of some tamed mischief mongers around them. I know the people of J&K will never allow the state’s disintegration’, he said.
Dr. Andrabi said that ‘We should not allow the National Highway blockade in any case as it will only help our enemies and allow smooth supplies to the state. ‘I appeal to the very enlightened people of Jammu to prove wrong the baseless allegations of the anti-social elements that the agitation is communal. Let us all Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs remain united as true Indians and defeat the political conspiracies of dividing us’, she observed. |
