| Strong arm methods to suppress mass movement won’t work: JSM | | Condemns provocative, misleading statements of Hurriyat, PDP | | Early Times Reporter

In a joint statement the leaders of Jammu State Morcha (P), Prof. Virender Gupta, Dig Vijay Singh, Virander Magotra and Divender Singh Jamwal and Chandra Udey Sharma have strongly criticized and condemned the use of the Indian Army and other strong arm methods to suppress and crush the voice of the people of Jammu region by this incompetent administration under the Governor Vohra. The people of entire Jammu region are nationalistic and patriotic to the very core of their hearts and this region has functioned as the base camp to fight against the fundamentalism, secessionisms and terrorism prevalent in the Kashmir Valley. They however have warned the Government that such sort of long imposition of curfew, unprovoked firing and lathi charge and then using the might of Indian Army to try to crush the voice of Jammu region raised for the return of the Shri Amarnath land is going to prove counter productive in the long run. The entire Jammu region has been turned into a battlefield by this deployment and it is giving a feeling in this region that this current administration under the Governor Vohra wants these patriotic and nationalistic people to take up arms against the Government and also become militants to seek their rights. If this happens then the entire blame will have to be borne by the Central Government and their agent Governor Vohra. They have demanded an immediate removal of the Indian Army and lifting of the curfew along with allowing the peaceful processions and meetings to allow the people to vent out their feelings against the revocation of the order of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board land.
The leaders also strongly condemned the statements of Hurriyat and PDP leaders dubbing the present Jammu agitation as communal and parochial besides claiming that the Muslims of the Jammu region want to be included with the Kashmir valley. JSM warned these Kashmiri leaders that they are not the sole authority to discuss the fate of the Jammu Muslims as they too are supporting this agitation whole heartedly. The Muslims of Jammu region too are fed up with the constant discrimination of 60 years being showered on them by this Kashmiri leadership and do not want to be governed or ruled by this leadership any more. Even the Phari and Gujjar areas of Kashmir do not want to be under this Kashmiri leadership and want their lot to be with the Jammu region. It is better that these leaders stop trying to communalize and divide the people of Jammu region on caste and religious lines as now all have seen through this ploy being done since the last 60 years. They also cautioned the entire Jammu public to be watchful against these Kashmiri elements who are trying to paint the present agitation as a communal one.
The Morcha leaders have reiterated its appeal to the people to carry on this agitation peacefully and in a Gandhian manner and restrain from damaging the public and private property. They also cautioned the people to be very watchful of the sinister designs of the Government and these Kashmiri leaders of trying to communalize the situation and create wedge between the communities to break up this agitation. |
