Grand IAF show on Sept 24
Hirdesh discusses preparations

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 07 - Arrangements for IAF Suryakiran Formation Aerobatic team display were discussed in a meeting convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh here this morning.
Senior officers of IAF and district officers were present in the meeting.
It was apprised that IAF Air show is scheduled to be held at M.A.M Stadium on September 24, 2006 from 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. where as full dress rehearsal would be organized on September 23, 2006. Curtain raiser programme has been arranged on September 21, 2006 at Air Force Station, Satwari.
During deliberations preparations for the Air Show were discussed which included health and sanitation, transport and security. It was informed that the Air show is organized every year in different parts of the country to motivate youth to join IAF. This year the function would be held at Jammu city. Group captain J. S. Kiler V M. Station commander Air Force Station Jammu will be overall Incharge. The basic purpose of the thrilling and enthusiastic IAF show is to motivate the youth and children of Jammu and Kashmir to join Air Force and provide them an opportunity to serve the nation besides it would also minimize unemployment problem to some extent.
The issues discussed included seating arrangements of VIPs, media and other people, security to be provided by J&K Police and security of the Aircraft. Arrangements of fire safety included availability of civil fire brigade at the venue and emergency exit. For the flight safety it was decided that all garbage dump within a radius of 10 kms around the venue would be cleared to avoid bird strikes to aircraft, no eating stalls would be permitted. Transport, publicity and medical arrangements were also reviewed.
Regarding air awareness motivation stalls it was apprised that Air Force Station Jammu would set up three air awareness and sadbhavna stalls at the venue to motivate and guide youth of Jammu and Kashmir on career prospects of joining IAF as officers and air men.
A press conference would also be held at the venue after the air show to highlight career aspects in IAF for youth of J&K. The Air Force Officers requested the district administration to incorporate measures not only for security but also various aspects as deemed fit to exploit aerobatics display to the maximum advantage of state and citizen of J&K particularly the youth.
