Security forces claimed to have gunned down three Al-Bader militants at Rangawali Tangmarg area of north Kashmir, here this evening. Police spokesman quoting SSP Baramulla said that on specific information troops of 52 RR and 34 RR launched a joint search operation in the general area of Rangawali Tangmarg. During search operation one militant Mohammad Sultan Bhat along with two others fired indiscriminately on the search party triggering encounter between forces and militant who were hiding in dense forests. Three militants were killed who were later identified as Mohammad Sultan Bhat, son of Late Ghulam Rasool, resident of Rairum Kunzar, Shabir Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Hamid, resident of Goniwan Tangmarg and Nazir Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Rashid Khan, resident of Goniwan Tangmarg, the spokesman added. According to police Sultan Bhat was active in the area for last more than a decade and was allegedly involved in case FIR No. 03/99 under section 302 RPC, 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 3/13 Unlawful Activities Act in which five innocent civilians were killed in a house at Srai Village Tangmarg. He was also involved in case FIR No. 102/2007 under section 302 RPC, 7/25 Indian Arms Act in which one civilian was killed and In case FIR No. 96/2007 under section 302 RPC, 7/27 Indian Arms Act in which one civilian was killed. All the three militants belonged to Al-Badr outfit and case FIR No. 55/08 under section 307 RPC, 7/27 Indian Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and investigation has been taken up. |
