CM takes up early releasing of relief with centre

Srinagar, September 07 - Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has taken up the matter of release of central assistance for flood affected people with the concerned union ministry and central leadership. He today had yet another extensive visit of flood-hit areas in Kashmir valley which included Anantnag, Pulwama, Sangam, Bemina, Nowgam, Lasjan, Budgam, Soiteng, Padshahibagh, Sonawari, Sopore, Sumbal, Wullar, Bandipora and Baramulla.
Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Mr. Basharat Ahmed during the visit.
Chief Minister was informed by the concerned authorities that Bemina, Lasjan and Nowgam areas are still inundated with flood water for high discharge in Jhelum, adding that all out measures are being taken to deal with the situation.
Mr. Azad is eager to ensure prompt relief to the affected people, as such, continuously monitors the situation from the day first.
Cutting short his Leh tour soon after flood situation developed in the state and flood water entered the fields, Chief Minister visited all the affected areas in Pulwama, Anantnag, Srinagar, Baramulla and Budgam districts to have first hand information about the flood situation.
Showing quick response to the public needs at the hour of need, Chief Minister convened a special Cabinet meeting at Srinagar and deputed Ministers to various districts of the state to oversee rescue and relief operations and keep administration on high alert.
Directing the administration to show promptness in collection and compilation of flood damage details so that necessary succour is provided to the affected, Chief Minister said that on the basis of these details adequate central help could be sought.
In an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas in Jammu division on Wednesday, Chief Minister had first hand assessment of the magnitude of damages and monitored the situation personally. He immediately after the aerial viewing of affected areas convened a high level meeting of Ministers and officers to find out ways and means for early relief to the affected.
Reminding public representatives at grass roots levels, village heads, VLWs, Nambardars and Chowkidars of their responsibilities towards people, Mr. Azad asked them to be part of the programme of making honest and perfect assessment of the losses area-wise, saying “we have to ensure that every affected is enlisted for help and ingenuine not allowed to take advantage of the situation”.
He asked them to give list of affected people with full damages of crops, livestock and property to concerned tehsildars and damage assessing authorities.
