| JKNPP women members join hunger strike | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 9
The hunger strike launched by the JKNPP, which entered 6th day today, took a new turn when its four female members joined the hunger strike in support of the mass movement launched throughout Jammu region for restoration of land to SASB. Those who sat on hunger strike today included Manju Singh, Rashika Sahney, Deepali and Jasdeep Kour. They urged upon the masses of Jammu to continue the movement in a peaceful manner till the demand for transfer of land to Shrine Board was conceded and said that the revocation of the land allotment order was an assault on the pride and dignity of Jammu and had deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of the region. Demanding an end to all forms of discrimination with Jammu region and equal treatment in all spheres to the hitherto neglected and deprived people of Jammu, they pleaded for maintaining secular traditions of the region. All the four hunger strikers symbolizing women power emphatically said that central delegations or formation of committees could serve no purpose and it was only land diversion to the Board which needed priority attention of the government. |
