| SAKRS demands to install status of Maharaja Gulab Singh at Kunjwani Chowk | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 24: Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha has demanded to install the statue of Late Maharaja Gulab Singh at Kunjwani Chowk.
“The Former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdulla has already announced Kunjwani Chowk Jammu as the site for the statue. Accordingly a Sign Board was also installed at site mentioning there in “Site for the installation of Statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji.
Due to widening of road by the “National Highway Authority of India” the sign board was removed with assurance that the site for the statue of Late Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji shall be provided at the Kunjwani Chowk.
After protracted correspondence and due recommendations of the then Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey (IAS) vide his letter no 402/1434/Statues/5291 dt 10/01/2008 and the letter no PD/JMU/2011/9/7490 dt 14/01/2008, of Col. M.K Jain General Manager (Tech) Project Director N.H.A.I PTU Jammu, addressed to Shri Manoj Sharma General Manager (N-3) NHIA G-5 and 6 Sect. 10 Dwarka, New Delhi – 75 recommending there in that NHAI may allow the above said organizations to install the Statue of Late Maharaja Gulab Singh.
It has come to know that Jammu Municipal Corporation has passed a resolution to install statue of some other personality at Kunjwani Chowk Rotary without consulting the authority of N.H.A.India”, the press note issued by SAKRS reads.
Sabha opposed the action of Jammu Municipal Corporation on the Plea that Rotary Kunjwani is under the control of N.H.A.
India and not under the control of Jammu Municipal Corporation. Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha J&K demanded that Statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh be installed at Rotary of Kunjwani Junction Jammu.
